Downloading Free Fonts?

I got really frustrated yesterday over downloading "free" fonts. First you have to download the program and run it, and then you get all these instructions of how to "unzip" it and save it here and there that supports this and that. I'm not computer illiterate, can someone tell me if there is a good web site that has a fairly uncomplicated way to do it? Or can someone tell me how to do it like I"m a ten year old? TX
